Basit Farooq Alvi along with his brother Amjad Farooq Alvi, lived in Chahmiran, Lahore, Pakistan, developed the pc virus, (c)Brain, also known as the Pakistani flu. (c)Brain is considered to be the first computer virus for the PC. At the time the brothers were developing medical software. The virus was developed to protect their work from piracy and was supposed to target copyright infringers only.
The brothers are still in business in Pakistan as internet service providers in their company called Brain Limited.
Basit and Amjad were reportedly helped by Mr. Muhammad Khaleeq from Sahiwal in creating the first ever PC Virus.
