Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Attractions:

The 19th century plantations that surround this Mississippi River port city include the Houmas House Plantation and Gardens where the movie "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" was filmed. The Southern mansions of nearby Saint Francisville include Oakley Plantation, former home of Audubon Society founder John Audubon. It was here that more than 80 birds in his "Birds of America" series were painted. Oakley is also part of the Audubon State Historic Site, a 100-acre wildlife sanctuary. The Louisiana Art and Science Museum, featuring the Challenger Learning Center, which offers simulated space flight programs, is another popular attraction in Baton Rouge.
