The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia was established in 2007 with a $100 million gift from Frank Batten, Sr.[1] Harry Harding, previously the dean of the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs, was selected as the school's founding dean in January 2009.[2] The school currently offers a 5-year Bachelors/MPP program for undergraduates at the University and has plans to offer other degree programs in the future.

The Batten School is the newest school established at the University since the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration was established in 1954. The school will be closely aligned with many of the University's schools, including law, business, medicine, engineering, and education, as well as with key programs such as politics, economics, and applied ethics.
