Also called Ox Hill a Civil War battle that took place in Fairfax County, Virginia, where Confederate Maj. Gen. ”Stonewall” Jackson cut off Union forces retreating from Second Bull Run. On September 1, 1862, during a severe thunderstorm, Jackson defeated Union forces at the price of huge casualties on both sides, including Union Maj. Gens. Philip Kearny and Isaac Stevens.
