The Battle of Ctesiphon was another successful capture of the severely weakened Parthian capital by Roman forces under Septimus Severus. Unlike previous captures, the Parthians were unable to recover fully from this one. In 224 AD, after numerous concessions to the Romans and vassal Kingdoms, a Sassanid king overthrew the Parthians and started the Roman-Sassanid Wars.
