battle of Glenshiel

Glenshiel, battle of, 1719. A small Spanish force landed at Loch Alsh in April 1719 to support the Jacobite cause. But they received little local support, and Wightman advanced against them from Inverness. On 10 June the two groups met at Glenshiel. After a short engagement, the Scottish Jacobites fled and the Spaniards surrendered.
