The Battle of Nisibis took place between the armies of the Eastern Roman Empire under the command of General Belisarius and Sassanid Persians under the leadership of Kavadh I in the year 530 during the Iberian War. Kavadh I, with the aid of Lakhmids defeated Belisarius's forces resulting into a Sassanid victory after a Persian defeat in the previous Battle of Dara.
