Battle of St. Lô

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Email

An important battle following the D-Day Landing and leading up to the liberation of France, on July 25, 1944. Unable to make progress across the German lines, the Allies coordinated a massive bombing campaign to prepare for an all-out attack on the German Panzer Lehr division at St. Lô, Normandy. This succeeded in breaking the German line and opened the way into Brittany for the subsequent progress toward the Seine.
