The Battle of Suriname (incorrectly: Battle of Surinam) was a battle between the Netherlands and Great Britain for the control of the Suriname colony. The colony, which was held by a Dutch garrison, was captured on May 5, 1804 by a British squadron under the command of Sir Samuel Hood, together with troops under Sir Charles Green.
