Founded at the beginning of the 18th century and named for Shaikh Ahmad ibn Musa, well known as a scholarly man. The name means 'House of the Jurisprudent' from bayt 'dwelling', originally simply a tent, but now also used for permanent buildings, and faqīh 'jurisprudent'.
