An alley in Tabriz Bazaar devoted to carpet selling

The Bazaar of Tabriz (بازار تبریز, Bāzār Tabriz) is one of the oldest and largest bazaars of the Middle East and is the largest covered bazar in the world, Located in the center of the city of Tabriz, Iran, this spectacular structure consists of several sub-bazaars, such as the Amir Bazaar (for gold and jewelry), the Mozzafarieh (a carpet bazaar), a shoe bazaar, and many more for a variety of other goods. Although numerous new shops and malls have been established in modern times, the Bazaar of Tabriz remains the economic heart of the city and northwestern Iran.

Like other bazaars in the Middle East, there are several mosques constructed behind the bazaar, the most notable of which is the Jome' Mosque. Thus, the Bazaar of Tabriz is also used for special Shi'ite ceremonies, such as the Day of Ashura.
