Service runs daily and travels exclusively through Redondo Beach city limits. The route begins at Redondo Beach Station on the LACMTA Green Line light rail system. The route continues south through the heart of Redondo Beach and serves the South Bay Galleria and the Beach Cities Hospital, before terminating at the transfer center at the Redondo Beach pier. This line was created when Metro Local line 215 was shortened back to Redondo Beach Station. [1]
The route begins at the Del Amo Fashion Center where connections can be made to Torrance Transit routes 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9, as well as Metro Local line 344. Line 104 then continues towards Calle Mayor via Sepulveda Boulevard and Anza Avenue respectively. Continuing through the southern portion of Torrance, buses travel along the shore serving Rivera Village along Torrance and Redondo Beach, before concluding their journey at the transfer center at Redondo Beach Pier. No service is provided on Sundays. Line 104 was created when Torrance Transit line 4 was cancelled, Beach Cities Transit then replaced most of the portion west of Del Amo Fashion Center but chose to continue to Redondo Beach Pier instead of serve Palos Verdes Boulevard. Additionally, frequencies were reduced and lower capacity buses were put on the route.[2]. As of Spring 2012, this line is dropped. [3].
The backbone of the system, this route travels north from the pier and serves the major residential and commercial areas of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, and El Segundo each day of the week. Connections are then provided to Plaza El Segundo and the University of West Los Angeles. The Aviation/LAX Station on the light rail's Green Line can also be reached, and the route terminates at the major transit center known as the LAX City Bus Center.[4] This line was created when Metro Express line 439 was shortened to Aviation Station.
