Biography
Becky Byrkit is an accomplished poet and fiction writer with over 80 magazine publications to her name. Her first book, zealand (SUN/gemini Press), was nominated for the Western States' Book Award in 1996. Her work has appeared in Best American Poetry 1995, Ploughshares, Black Warrior Review, and Night Out: Poems About Hotels, Motels, Restaurants and Bars. Becky was commissioned by the Warhol/Maddox Foundation as a contributor to a David Bowie retrospective (due in 2002). She's worked as an instructor of creative writing and film literature at the University of Arizona, and founded the Voice & Range Registry of Collaborative Artists in 1990 as a means of bringing artists of various disciplines together. Her forthcoming book, Suite: Mary of the Nine, is due from PaperBrain Press in the Spring of 1999.She works as a consultant to memoirists and listens to music pretty much all goddamn day.
