Beech on the Run was a one-off TV episode which continued the story of disgraced Sun Hill DS Don Beech (Billy Murray). After four years in The Bill, Beech's web of deceit had finally become unravelled and he had been forced to forge a new life in Australia.

The special episode follows Beech's new life in Australia as he endeavours to set up a life of leisure and luxury funded by crime and various illegal scams. Beech's new life is brought to an abrupt end, however, due to the unfailing determination of former colleague Claire Stanton. Beech is last seen boarding a boat as it explodes. Whether or not he was killed was left open. A follow-up series entitled Beech is Back revealed he had survived the explosion and had used it to fake his death and return to Britain.
