Before There Were Slackers There Were... is a collection of recordings from 1992, 1994, and 1995 by The Slackers under the pseudonym, The Nods. Despite common misconception, the band was already known as The Slackers when this material was recorded. The pseudonym was used so as not to confuse fans with the much different garage rock based sound of these recordings. The band was also signed under the Hellcat Records label at the time of this album's release, which could have prevented them from releasing the album as The Slackers.
