Route 404, usually referred to as Menachem Begin Expressway (or Begin Boulevard) is an urban freeway in western Jerusalem named after sixth Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin. The road follows a north-south path that connects key neighbourhoods and commercial areas, as well as several city arteries and national routes. Begin Expressway is made of the central section, which was completed in 1998, and the extension to Highway 443 to Modi'in, which was completed in late 2002 [1] and merges with Highway 1 to the Tel Aviv area. The road is internally numbered Jerusalem Route 4, and part of the extension is marked as national Highway 45. It is equipped with noise dampeners in many of its sections.
