Mining
Iron ore mining is expected to start in 2011. [1]
Transport
A 237km long railway branch line is proposed branching from Booue to enable these deposits to be exploited. This line may also extend to a port at Santa Clara. [2] Alternately, as the tonneages hauled will be greatly increased, a new parallel route to the port may be built.
The town is near the Congo-Brazzaville border.
