Belle Alliance (Schlacht bei), German name, originating with Blücher, for the Battle of Waterloo. The farm La Belle Alliance is on the road from Brussels via Waterloo to Charleroi, and was approximately at the centre of the French position. It was here that Wellington and Blücher met at 9.15 p.m. in the evening after the battle.

(bel'-älyäNs') , village, central Belgium, near Waterloo. The battle of Waterloo (see Waterloo campaign), where Napoleon I was defeated in June, 1815, is sometimes known, particularly in Germany, as the battle of Belle-Alliance.
