(b Stockholm, 29 Jan 1928). Swedish composer. He studied with Moberg at Uppsala University (1947-56) and at Darmstadt and in 1957 joined the staff of Swedish radio; in 1972 he was appointed professor at McGill University, Montreal. He was one of the first to use the organ as an avant-garde instrument (Konstellationer I, 1958). Other works, in many genres including tape pieces, are influenced by medieval and non-European (especially Japanese) music.
