Éber Donn

Celtic Mythology: Éber Donn

[Irish, Dark Éber]

Malevolent, envious older brother of Éber Finn in the Lebor Gabála [Book of Invasions]. T. F. O'Rahilly argues in Early Irish History and Mythology (Dublin, 1946) that his name is a means of accommodating Donn (1), the Irish god of the dead, with the pseudo-history of the invasion story. More often known as Donn mac Míled, his story is now intertwined with that of Donn (1), although he retains a separate identity within the Lebor Gabála.
