1. The fourth son of Asher and ancestor of the Beriites. His family, including his two sons Heber and Malchiel, went to Egypt with Jacob.
2. A son of Ephraim: he was born after his brothers had been killed by the men of Gath. The popular etymolgoy of his name reflects this misfortune: "because tragedy had come upon his house" (I Chr 7:23).
3. One of the sons of Elpaal. He was the head of a clan in Aijalon and helped to drive out the inhabitants of Gath. He had three sons, Michael, Ispah and Joha.
4. One of the sons of Shimei. He and his brother Jeush, having few sons, were assigned "as one father's house" at the time of the division of the Levites.
