(b New York, 4 Feb 1893; d Rochester, ny, 24 May 1968). American composer. He studied with Goetschius at the Institute of Musical Art in New York (1921-2) and in Europe with Bridge and Boulanger (1927-9); until 1967 he taught at the Eastman School. His works include oratorios and psalm settings, five symphonies (1926-59) and other orchestral music in a finely coloured tonal style. His The Art of Orchestration (1951) is a standard work.

Bernard Rogers (February 4, 1893 in New York City – May 24, 1968 in Rochester, New York) was an American composer.

He studied with Arthur Farwell, Ernest Bloch, Percy Goetschius, and Nadia Boulanger. He taught at the Cleveland Institute of Music, The Hartt School, and the Eastman School of Music. He retired from the latter school in 1967.

Bernard Rogers composed five operas , five symphonies, other works for orchestra, chamber music, three cantatas, choral music and Lieder.
