Here's yet another compilation that covers First Choice's discography up to -- but not including -- their mighty disco singles for Salsoul. Since it contains 21 tracks, including all of the chart hits from this portion of the group's existence ("Armed and Extremely Dangerous," "The Player," "Newsy Neighbors," "Guilty," "Love Freeze," "Smarty Pants"), it's one of the better sets that has been available the past several years. Although it's a bit of a plunge to take, the two-disc Greatest Hits is the recommended place to go -- that set covers the soul and proto-disco of First Choice's early- to mid-'70s phase while also covering the big disco numbers. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
