beta receptor

Adrenoceptors subdivided into beta1 receptors and beta2 receptors. Stimulation of beta1 receptors increase the rate and force of contraction of heart muscle, increasing cardiac output. Stimulation of beta2 receptors causes bronchodilation and vasodilation of blood vessels in skeletal muscle. Stimulation of these receptors is blocked by inhibiting drugs called beta blockers.
