Paoli, Betty, pseudonym of Barbara Elisabeth Glück (Vienna, 1815-94, Baden by Vienna), a once well-known Viennese poet of Jewish descent, was from 1843 to 1848 companion to a Princess Schwarzenberg. Collections of her poems appeared as Gedichte in 1841, as Nach dem Gewitter in 1843, and as Neue Gedichte in 1850, from which year on she devoted herself entirely to authorship. Her publications include Neueste Gedichte (1870) and fiction, Die Welt und mein Auge (3 vols., 1844). Shortly after the death of Grillparzer she published the biography Grillparzer und seine Werke (1875).
