beur
Beur is a verlan (French slang) term for a descendant of immigrants of North African origin living in France. The word is a reversal of the syllables for the word "Arab" (arabe in French). It is a term that can be pejorative in certain circumstances. The term "beur" is also used in French-speaking Belgium and Spain. Since the late 1990s, lot of young people use the twice-verlanised term rebeu as a synonym. A female beur can be called a beurette.
Beurs have their origin in the countries of the Maghreb (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria).
