Plot

Telugu filmmaker and graduate of the New York Institute of Cinematography, Haribhai Desai directs this religious drama. Radha (P. Bhanumathi) is a devidasi -- a South Indian holy prostitute -- before she converts to the worship of saints. Her wrathful pimp Timmaya Sastray (Kondala Rao), along with the evil Brahmin Ramanujachari (G.V. Sitapathy), persecute the lass for her decision, while the young idealist Mohan (B.R. Panthulu) comes to her aid. When Mohan winds up dead, Ramanujachari pins the crime on Radha. Things seem bleak for the heroine until divine intervention saves her from the gallows. ~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide
