(hydrology) The ratio of number of stream segments of one order to the number of the next higher order.


 
 
Geography Dictionary: bifurcation ratio

In a drainage basin, the ratio of the number of streams of a given order to the number of streams of the next, higher order. The ratio varies with the different classifications of stream orders.
