Big John Bates started playing his brand of psychobilly throughout his native of Vancouver in 1999 along with his backing band, the Fury -- who are otherwise known as Care-oline(bass) and Kermit (drums). With an inspiration that looks up to the Cramps, the Reverend Horton Heat, and an additional lyrical content of bad girls, motorcycles, demons, and alien strippers, Raucous Music released Bates' first EP, entitled Vibro-Psychotic, in 2000. The following year, Hullabaloo and El Toro Records collaborated to release his debut full-length, Flamethrower. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
