Review

Billboard Top Rock 'n' Roll Hits: 1968-1972 combines five discs from Rhino's Billboard series in one slipcase. Anyone who already owns the original discs doesn't need this box set, but this is a nice way to get all five discs at one time, especially since they offer a good cross-section of pop, rock & roll and R&B hits from the late '60s and early '70s. Among the featured hits are "Tighten Up," "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay," "People Got to Be Free," "Green Tambourine," "Mony Mony," "Cry Like a Baby," "Dizzy," "Sugar, Sugar," "Crimson and Clover," "Crystal Blue Persuasion," "Take a Letter Maria," "Build Me Up Buttercup," "Time of the Season," "Good Morning Starshine," "I Think I Love You," "Tears of a Clown," "I Want You Back," "Spirit in the Sky," "Vehicle," "Joy to the World," "Maggie May," "Family Affair," "Knock Three Times," "Indian Reservation," "Treat Her Like a Lady," "Alone Again (Naturally)," "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)," "A Horse with No Name," "Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)," "Nights in White Satin" and "Back Stabbers." ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
