Banking Dictionary: Billing Error

Charge to a customer's Account Statement disputed by the account holder, resulting from unauthorized use, incorrect billing date, payments to a credit card account not credited, or errors in computation, such as transposition of numbers or late mailing of the periodic billing statement. These are corrected through Error Resolution procedures in the Fair Credit Billing Act and the Electronic Funds Transfer Act.
