Billund is the second largest town in Billund Municipality, Region Syddanmark, Denmark with a population of 6,033 (1st January 2009).[1]
Overview
Billund is a company town, the home of the Lego Group headquarters. On the outskirts of the town there is a Lego factory, which as of 2005[update] manufactures 90% of the company's products. Adjacent to the company's headquarters is the first Legoland theme park, which opened in 1968.[2]
Billund Airport is Denmark's second busiest airport, and was opened in 1964. It was built by the Lego Group, but is now run independently.[2]
