Black EG is really Pat Fish (aka the Jazz Butcher). Perhaps because this is an extremely non-commercial release, or perhaps it's an effort to produce very different music that might alienate or confuse fans, but for this album, he chose to go under the name of Black EG. On this album, tape loops, soundtracks from movies, drum machines, and generally bizarre sounds are all combined to create eerie, creepy, yet interesting dance music. There is no singing other than a very short sample from "Pineapple Tuesday" (from the Jazz Butcher's brilliant album Cult of the Basement) on the track "My Radio." In the context of the soundtrack, it works. This album is a collage of sound with a driving beat. It is not to everyone's taste, but Fish has been able to put together sounds and music in order to create a very odd dance-centered soundtrack. The songs do tend to run together, as the overall structure does not alter much, and by the end the effect of the music begins to grate, but for the most part this is a creative piece of work, part art and part dance. ~ Aaron Badgley, All Music Guide
