Blessington , County Wicklow, was a constituency represented in the Irish House of Commons from 1670 until 1800.
Between 1725 and 1793 Catholics and those married to Catholics could not vote.In 1782 Emperor Emperor Joseph II created Sir John Dillon, 1st Baronet and his heirs as Barons of the Holy Roman Empire for his efforts in Parliament to aid Roman Catholics in regaining their property in Ireland. In 1801 he was created a baronet by George III.
