Biography

Formed in 2005 by a pair of 13-year-old friends who happened to share the same birthday (November 27) and interest (blogging), Blog 27 took the Polish pop charts by storm with a cover of Italian Euro-dance star Alexia's "Uh La La La." Following quickly on the success of its first single, the duo popped out a second single ("Hey Boy [Get Your Ass Up]") and a full-length album (LOL) that was a major hit with the tween female demographic, peaking at number one on the Polish charts and quickly going double platinum. The group toured its own style of crude lyric-infused Disney-style tween-pop, using sugary beats and light riffs in combination with more suggestive and/or angst-laden lyrics ("Hey Boy [Get Your Ass Up]," "Fuck You"). After their initial success, however, co-founder Alicja Boratyn announced her departure in late 2006, leaving her friend Tola Szlagowska as the sole frontwoman of the group at the tender age of 14, with a light backing band and a pair of dancers behind her. Nonetheless, Szlagowska bounced back with the sophomore album Before I'll Die in early 2008, hitting the Polish Top Ten once again with a slightly rougher sound, and possibly taking a cue from Avril Lavigne in the use of further musical development as a route toward respect. ~ Adam Greenberg, All Music Guide

Blog 27 is a Polish pop group consisting of teenager Tola Szlagowska and four musicians and two dancers.

Career

The group's name comes from their interest in blogging and the date they were both born (27 November 1992). Blog 27 debuted while Tola Szlagowska and Alicja Boratyn (Ala) were 12 years old in the summer of 2005 with a cover version of Alexia's hit "Uh La La La"; it became one of the biggest Polish hits of the season. Their second single "Hey Boy (Get Your Ass Up)" was released later the same year and the album <LOL> sold over 100,000 copies and peaked at #1 in Poland, becoming double platinum. Their singles also made it to the top 3 on the Polish charts; the most successful was "Wid Out Ya", which made it four times to #1. In early 2006 Blog 27 went on tour with Tokio Hotel, released three singles in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and one ("Uh La La La") in France, Italy, Hungary and Japan. Five singles were released in Poland: "Uh La La La", "Hey Boy", "Wid Out Ya", "I Still Don't Know Ya" and "Who I Am".

On 18 October 2006, Alicja announced her departure from Blog 27. Blog 27 consists currently of: Tola (vocalist), Janek Szlagowski (drummer), Alek (guitarist), Adam (keyboard), Justin (bass), Maria Foryś and Sylwia Dymek (dancers).

On 18 April 2008 a new album, "Before I'll die", was released.
