Biography

Boston-area hardcore/metal band Blood for Blood was formed in 1995 by guitarist "White Trash" Rob Lind, vocalist Erick Medina, and drummer Mike Maloney, with bassist Ian McFarland replacing the original bass player some time afterward. The group cut an indie-label album titled Spit My Last Breath and then signed with Victory Records for 1998's Revenge on Society. The EP Livin' in Exile followed in 1999. Prior to their demise in mid-2001, they issued the Outlaw Anthems. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

Blood for Blood are a hardcore band from Charlestown, Massachusetts. They formed in 1995 as a reaction to the existing heavy music scene in Boston. They are regarded[citation needed] as an extremely nihilistic and aggressive band. In 1997 they were signed to Victory Records. Their sound is heavily influenced by Sheer Terror, Breakdown, Carnivore, and Raw Deal.

"Young Americans" controversy

In mid-2006, Blood for Blood's song "Ain't Like You (Wasted Youth II)" was used as backing music for a trailer for the pro-war documentary, "Young Americans" [1], made by Pat Dollard and U.S. Marines in Iraq. The trailer featured numerous images of anti-war protesters and icons, at which the song's aggressive message seemed targeted. However, Rob Lind is known to be a vocally against war, as evidenced in his band Ramallah.

Trivia

  • The band's iconic logo of a sketchy skull and crossbones with a teardrop of blood was drawn by Sean Bonner in 1997.
