Bloody Fist Records

Wikipedia: Bloody Fist Records

Bloody Fist Records was an independent record label based in Newcastle, Australia.

Bloody Fist was one of the most prolific labels involved in hardcore/gabber, industrial, breaks, noise, and related genres. Founded by Nasenbluten's Mark Newlands (formerly known as Stigs/TDU) in 1994 as a platform for local artists, the label initially began distributing cassettes and moved on to become a major label in the hardcore techno scene. The signing of Nasenbluten to Industrial Strength Records brought the label worldwide recognition with Industrial Strength releasing a sampler of Bloody Fist artists, but it was reported to "shun media attention".[1]

Bands and artists signed to Bloody Fist in its lifetime included Syndicate, Xylocaine, Memetic, Guyver, Nasenbluten and Newlands' own alias Overcast.

Demise

At 3p.m. AEST on October 1, 2004, the label shut its doors after ten years of serving the underground music community. It is believed that the label called it quits due to founder Mark Newlands becoming fed up with the trials of running an independent record label. He appears to have been pushed over the edge by a repeatedly substandard shipment of tapes. His final blog post reads:

BLOODY FIST NEWS

Final Update: 1st October, 2004

The cassette version of NCL TRAX V2.0 (FISTC-19) arrived today. The tapes had already been sent back to the manufacturers twice due to inconsistent and poor sound quality.

Third time lucky today then? Of course not.

The cassettes look great but the sound and dubbing quality are still well below standard - we couldn't even give the fucking things away in their current state, which means that the release will now have to be postp-

OH FUCK IT.
Enough is enough.
Just show me the fucking door.
