n.

A disease, especially of tomato, pepper, squash, or melon, caused by a deficiency of calcium and characterized by brown or black decay at the distal part of the fruit.


 
 
Gardener's Dictionary: blossom end rot

A cultural problem caused by a calcium deficiency. It is often related to temperature extremes, uneven watering, or root damage. Plants affected include tomatoes and peppers.
