The Blue-Redstripe Danio is a fish that may be color morph of the widely known Pearl Danio. It is a tropical fish belonging to the Danio family (Cyprinidae). Originating from South-east Asia in southern Thailand, Chantaburi province, this fish is rarely found in the fish keeping hobby. It tends to be smaller than the Pearl Danio and have a distinctive wide luminous orange stripe which peters out under the dorsal. While still rare, it is known to hobbyists as Danio Blue-Redstripe. When originally discovered by H.M Smith in 1931 it was named Danio pulcher, which translates as beautiful danio.[1], however it was later synonimised with D. abolineatus Scholars are currently undecided as to whether it is a separate species to Danio abolineatus or not however the majority concur that it is not.
