Boac is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Marinduque, Philippines. It is the capital municipality of Marinduque. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 48,504 people in 9,836 households.

In 1942, the occupation by the Japanese troops taken in the town of Boac, Marinduque.
Beginning the Battle of Marinduque in 1945 the American and Philippine Commonwealth troops landed by the attacked from the Japanese forces in Boac.
Mahal na Birhen ng Biglang-Awa
On May 10, 2008, the Diocese of Boac celebrated the 30th anniversary and the golden anniversary of the canonical coronation of Mahal na Birhen ng Biglang-Awa (1958-2008). Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, of Mogpog, Marinduque, officiated the Concelebrated Mass. The people’s devotion to the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary, began when the Spanish Jesuit missionaries in 1621, brought the 3-foot Marian image to Boac. In the mid-17th century, a big expedition of Moros landed on the shores of Barangay Laylay near the Boac river. Many Christians were killed in the siege. But due to their devotion to Mary, the Moros fled to their Vintas, when, at the storm’s fury, a beautiful Lady with her arms outstretched stood on top of the wall (where the shrine is now located). To commemorate the miracle, a stone niche was built on the wall.[1]

- The Annual Moriones Festival is held in Boac and surrounding areas of Marinduque Island during the Lenten season. This holy celebration is famed to be one of the most colorful festivities in Marinduque and the Philippines.

Landmarks
- Boac Public Market
It is one of the landmarks of the town situated in Poblacion, Boac. The market comprises both dry and wet products. Transport terminals are near-distant to the said market bounding to different barangays.
- Marinduque National High School
It is the Mother School in the island province of Marinduque. This institution is said to be a camp of Spaniards, Japanese army and even Americans and Filipinos during World War II. The institution continuously produces good education and one of the most intelligent students in the country.
- Boac Museum
It is where some important facts and information about the island are being collected and preserved. It is located just beside the Boac Town Plaza and Rizal Park in Brgy. San Miguel.

It is located in Brgy. San Miguel. It is where major occasions and parties are held.
- Barangay Laylay
This is the largest, most populated, & most popular barangay in Marinduque. It is divided between Ilaya, Ibaba, Kapala, Niyugan, Hulo, & Isla. It has a subdivision called St. Peter & Paul Subd. Agriculture, particularly fishery, is the main source of livelihood of most villagers.
It is located south of Boac (Sea Side), the province's capital. It borders Barangay Ihatub south and Barangay Bangbangalon north. Bangbangalon used to be part of Laylay before it became a separate village.
Laylay is popular not only for its vast area & population but also for its nearly complete resources. It is the only barangay in Marinduque which has all these : elementary school, day care center, chapel, park, sari-sari stores, eateries, auto repair shops, funeral parlor, port, resort, & sports complex. Additionally, it has natural resources like a clean beach, river, & forests.
Towers are also evident in this barangay as cell sites of Smart Communications, Globe Telecom & Sun Cellular are all constructed here to provide network in the Boac South area . Broadcast satellite of Radio Natin, the first and only radio station in the province operated by Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) is likewise located here. Its broadcast station was first situated in Ilaya before it moved to the town proper. One of the two lighthouses in Marinduque can also be found in the shore of Laylay.
Laylay used to be the site of the warehouses of San Miguel Corporation & The Coca-Cola Company where all their bottled products are stored for inventory . Laylay also features the largest warehouse in the province - the rice depot of the National Food Authority that covers the entire province's rice supply. NFA is holding its office here.
Other highlights of this barangay are the scrumptious rice cakes or kakanin & pastries that are sold early afternoon of the day at extremely affordable prices. Most popular among these snacks are espasol, sapin-sapin, pinaltok, maha, pitchi-pitchi, bukayo & niyubak. Another equally delicious food that Laylay is known for is the pansit miki which is a favorite breakfast & snack of the villlagers. Lapida & candle making in Kapala are two of the most popular businesses here.
Its Fiesta is held every 3rd Sunday of January when the Feast of Sto. Nino is celebrated. Its traditional & more popular May 25 Fiesta is now called "Laylay Day". Procession of Sto. Nino, Patuklusan, Sagala, & amateur singing contest are just some of the interesting shows to watch during the festivity. Neighboring barangays also take part of the celebration as they are invited to join its Inter-Barangay Paliga with sports like basketball being played throughout the summer. Huge prices shouldered by the Hermano & Hermana are given for these events.
Putong, a customary practice of Marinquenos, is carried out here much better than any part of the province. A group of widows & spinsters dressed in conventional costumes better known as "Spice Girls" performs this sing & dance ritual to welcome visitors & wish them good luck on their endeavors.
- Boac Cathedral
It is the Marinduque's pilot cathedral. It is located in Brgy. Mataas na Bayan in Boac. It is a historical church where in the Katipunan Flag is said to be baptized in this cathedral. Our Lady of Immaculate Concepcion is the patron saint of Boac while Birhen ng Biglang-Awa is the patron saint of the province.
- Boac Town Arena
It is where famous senakulo, a part of the celebration of Moriones Festival is being held. It is located in Brgy. San Miguel, Boac.
- Don Luis Hidalgo Memorial School
Also known as Boac Central School is one of the landmarks in Boac. It is located just beside the Marinduque National High School.
- Marinduque Provincial Capitol
It is undoubtedly a landmark of the county. It is located in Brgy. Bangbangalon in municipality of Boac. It is near-distant to Dr. Damian Reyes Memorial Hospital (formerly Marinduque Provincial Hospital) and Camp Maximo Abad.
- Boac Municipal Hall
It is located in Brgy. Tampus. Hon. Meynardo Solomon is the present Mayor of the municipality.
- Biglang-Awa Bridge
It is said to be the longest bridge in the province. It connects Brgy. Tampus to Brgy. Bantad, same in the municipality of Boac. Lot of people are seen here by standing watching the beautiful sunset and fascinating sceneries including the Boac Cathedral.
- Marinduque State College
It is the dominant and the only state college in the province with courses accredited by CHED and TESDA. Its main campus is situated in Brgy. Tanza, Boac and it has its satellite campuses in other different counties of the province.
- Boac Catholic Cemetery
It is an old cemetery located in Brgy. Santol.
- Casa Real
It is an educational mini-museum situated in the former site of Rizal Park in Brgy. San Miguel, Boac.
