Boardman Bikes are the creation of Olympic winning cyclist Chris Boardman[1] MBE[2]. In a Joint venture with Halfords, the retailer is the sole distributor and reseller of the Boardman bike range in the UK[3] and is now available in Ireland [4]. .
The joint venture between Boardman bikes and Halfords started in 2008 with a range of 9 bikes in various sizes, followed in 2009 by a more comprehensive range featuring road bikes, hard tail mountain bikes, full suspension mountain bikes and hybrid bikes. Using components such as RockShox forks, carbon fibre frames as in the race prepared bikes and hydraulic disc brakes, the range covers most race/road bike requirements.
The Halfords sponsored Team Halfords Bikehut uses Boardman bikes to train and compete[5] and included Nicole Cooke in 2008, who won her Olympic medal on a prototype Boardman frame[6].
Chris Boardman has been known for his methodical, technology approach to racing, from winning the Olympics on the infamous Lotus 108 Bike, to becoming British Cycling's director of research and development[7].
