Bob Crable (born September 22, 1959, in Deer Park, Ohio a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio). He played football for Archbishop Moeller High School, Notre Dame and is a former linebacker for the New York Jets. He still holds the record for most career tackles (521) for the Irish. Crable was the head coach of his alma mater, Moeller High School for eight seasons (2000-2007).
Mr. Crable graduated from Moeller in 1978 after an outstanding high school football career. He attended the University of Notre Dame to pursue a degree in business administration and in marketing. At Notre Dame, he played football for Dan Devine and Gerry Faust. His outstanding play at Notre Dame earned him recognition from his teammates – being chosen twice as team captain. He also earned national recognition as an All American linebacker in 1980-81. After graduating from Notre Dame, Mr. Crable was drafted in the first round by the New York Jets. He played linebacker with the Jets for seven years. After a knee injury ended his professional football career, he returned to Cincinnati, where he started his own business, Crable Sportswear. This top-of-the-line sportswear company was sold to Joe Hayden and The Midland Company in 1989, but Bob retained the position of president.
Mr. Crable returned to Moeller during the 1992-93 school year as a coach and part-time religion teacher. The next year he accepted a full-time teaching position in the religion department. He became certified to teach religion from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati after attending The Athenaeum of Ohio.
