Bolligen is a municipality in the Bern administrative district of the canton of Bern, Switzerland.
In the historical center is a twelfth-century church, with a benefice barn and parsonage from the 16th century.

Geography
Bolligen lies northeast of Bern, its area connects the Worblental to the Emmental. The "Lutzere" mountains form the watershed boundary between the
Bolligen has an area of 16.6 square kilometers (6.4 sq mi). Of this area, 44.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 43.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 11.5% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (0.2%) is non-productive (rivers or glaciers).[1]
In the municipality is the Bantiger (947 m (3,107 ft)). The transmission tower of Swisscom located there supplies the surrounding region with radio and television programs. The mountain also provides a panorama of the Jura mountains, the Swiss plateau, and the Alps.
Politics
In the municipal council the Free Democratic Party of Switzerland (FDP, 2), Social Democratic Party of Switzerland (SP, 3), Swiss People's Party (SVP, 1), and "Bolligen Parteilos" ("cross-bencher," BP, 1) are represented (as of May 2006).
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 25.9% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the FDP (23.9%), the SPS (20%) and the Green Party(12%).[1]
The mayor, Margret Kiener Nellen, is the representative of the canton of Bern in the National Council of Switzerland and a member of the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland.
Demographics
Bolligen has a population (as of 2007[update]) of 6,117, of which 5.5% are foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 0.4%. Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (93.2%), with French being second most common ( 2.2%) and Italian being third ( 1.0%).
The age distribution of the population (as of 2000[update]) is children and teenagers (0-19 years old) make up 21.1% of the population, while adults (20-64 years old) make up 61% and the seniors (over 64 years old) make up 17.8%. The entire Swiss population is generally well educated. In Bolligen about 87.5% of the population (between age 25-64) have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either University or a Fachhochschule).
Bolligen has an unemployment rate of 1.32%. As of 2005[update], there were 159 people employed in the primary economic sector and about 47 businesses involved in this sector. 303 people are employed in the secondary sector and there are 36 businesses in this sector. 1097 people are employed in the tertiary sector, with 157 businesses in this sector.[1]
