Gelsenkirchen, an industrial town in the Ruhr area of Germany was bombed many times in World War II.

1943

On the night of June 25, 1943, 473 RAF bombers attacked the city.The next major attack came on the night of July 9, 1943 by 418 bombers.

Attack on the factories

On November 5, 1943, 374 USAAF bombers attacked the synthetic oil plant and marshalling yards. on the 19th another attack followed, by 160 USAAF bombers.
