Sometimes called the Great Book of Lecan to distinguish it from the earlier Yellow Book of Lecan compiled by the same family of scribes in the same castle. Irish name, Leabhar Mór Mhic Fhir Bhisigh Leacain. Compiled c.1400; 600 pages contain genealogical material and a Book of Rights. Lecan is the name of a former castle, now in ruins, in the west of Co. Sligo, 2 miles N of Inishcrone. Published in edition by Kathleen Mulchrone (Dublin, 1937).
