Newly recognized south australia wine-producing region located about 165 miles southeast of the city of Adelaide in the Limestone Coast Zone. It's situated around the town of Bordertown in the far southeast corner near the victoria state border. The Bordertown area is north of the more famous coonawarra and padthaway regions. It has about 2,500 acres of vineyards dominated by red varieties-cabernet sauvigon is the most widely planted, followed by Shiraz (syrah), merlot, petit verdot and Mataro (mourvèdre). chardonnay is the most widely planted white variety.
