Review
The eerie sound of :wumpscut: is showcased on Born Again, a remix collection that shows the group trying to beef up their synths-and-beats sound. Starting with the Skinny Puppy-esque ramblings of "Is It You," the band sounds great under the new mixes they are given here. "Womb" gets two new takes; although the first mix is very creepy in its own right, the second one is even uglier and more unrelenting. Other songs like "War" and "Man's Complete Idiot" are made into angry, tense soundscapes punctured by Rudy Ratzinger's oddball vocals. Unlike many of their contemporaries, :wumpscut: loves to experiment and chop up their material, leading to some very interesting and good mixes of songs that would sink in lesser hands. This might be the best thing Ratzinger has put together in :wumpscut:'s career: a catchy, experimental industrial album that isn't dated and represents the electro-industrial genre's creative side. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music GuideTracks
