Review

No Limit never apologized for making albums on an assembly line -- and really, considering that nearly every record they released went gold at a minimum, they probably felt no apologies were necessary. Because of this crass practice, it was difficult to differentiate between records and artists, meaning that the subtle pleasures of, say, Silkk the Shocker were lost to most ears. That wasn't the case with C-Murder, however. The youngest brother of Master P and Silkk, C-Murder shares portions of his siblings' talents, and his debut Life or Death illustrated that he was poised to take his Snoop/2Pac delivery to another level. His sequel, Bossaline, unfortunately doesn't follow through on the success of his opening salvo. C-Murder has gotten lazy, choosing to spin out predictable gangsta tales without honing his craft. Before, it seemed as if he was developing a signature style, but here he falls back on cliches. Combine the flat delivery with the flat production on Bossaline and the result is a by-the-books No Limit record, the kind of which will please the devoted but nobody else. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Bossalinie is No Limit Records artist C-Murder's second and highest peaking album. It entered the US album chart as the second highest selling album of the week ending March 14 1999. after selling 175,611 in 5 days[1]. It stayed on the chart for 11 weeks and was certified Gold. It topped the R&B album chart in its first week and was sixth in its second week.[2]. It remained an R&B chart surfer for 26 consecutive weeks[3].

The album includes a track called "On my Enemies" that samples 2Pac diss song towards The Notorious B.I.G. and The Bad Boy Family that had not yet been released. It was renamed and camouflaged to a tribute record due to a lack of rights to the sample for the song owned by Death Row Records and/or Amaru Records, as the album liner notes give no credit to 2Pac. It started a feud with Death Row affiliate Yukmouth who released a diss track towards the executive producer of album, Master P. Yukmouth's remake of "Still Ballin" (original created earlier, remix can also be found on Better Dayz) on his 1999 album Thugged Out - The Albulation contains the lyrics : "Cats fakin ya mak...waitin to jack..soon as the day it will pass[...]aim an infrared at the head of a rapper trying to make a living off a dead man[...]" [4].

C-Murder was also charged by Bridgeport Records and/or Southfield Records with improper use of the musical composition "Flashlight" as an interplolated/sampled portion in "W Balls" whereas the infringement has not been remedied as described in Infringing Compositions and/or Sound Recordings and/or Records[5]
