Membership
The society is supported entirely by its members. Membership includes a subscription to the bimonthly newsletter, BAS Speaker, in both print and electronic form. Non-members may also access selected articles of BAS Speaker electronically [2]. Membership also includes admission to the monthly meetings of the society. Non-members may also attend one meeting as a guest.
An example of a notable article that first appeared in BAS Speaker (and later in the March 1980 issue of "High Fidelity" magazine) was written by BAS member Daniel J. Shanefield. This article introduced the idea of double-blind testing of audio equipment, which is now used worldwide when new technology is suggested.
