Words that rhyme, proposed as the ends of verses, to be filled out by the ingenuity of the person to whom they are offered.
A poem composed to rhymes set in advance. It was popular as a game in 17th-c. salons.
An 18th century parlor game in which a list of rhyming words was drawn up and handed to the players, who had to make a poem from the list keeping the rhymes in their original order.
